What’s your top tip to be successful in life?

I have been journaling since I was a kid—back when journaling was called “keeping a diary.” Boy, do I wish I still had those diaries.

Today, I still journal several times a day. What I’ve learned over the years is that for me to be successful—I can’t necessarily speak for others—I have to 1) reflect on where I’ve been, 2) understand where I am, and 3) know where I desire to be. Afterwards, I make the necessary changes to get to where I want to be. Many times those changes aren’t instant, they actually take time. Smile, I’m human.

For example, I recently read a journal entry from January 1, 2021, where I wrote—

“Starting today, I must learn how to get along without social media. You know, not to use it as a pastime, but as a tool. I need to read more. Cultivate my gifts more. Find things that are going to enhance and make my future more enjoyable.”

It wasn’t until about two months ago that I finally began living in what I wrote. It took me over five years to get here, but I’m here, and that’s all that truly matters.

For me, it’s not the big noticeable changes I’ve made over the years, but the quiet subtle ones I’ve made and continue to make daily that help me live what I consider a successful life.
